St. Vincent Healthcare (SVH) was founded in 1898 by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. Always mission-driven and faith-based, St. Vincent has grown into a 286-licensed bed hospital with 31 outpatient clinics led by a community Board of Directors. The hospital serves diverse health care needs across a four-state area.

St. Vincent Healthcare's Services and Expertise

  • Cancer Care: The cancer program is recognized by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) as an Approved Cancer Program. Only one in four Montana hospitals that treat cancer patients receives this approval. SVH is also accredited by the AABB, an international association involved in activities related to transfusion and cellular therapies.
  • Heart Center: St. Vincent continues to receive national recognition for heart care. The center's interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, emergency department physicians and the cardiac cath lab team are dedicated to the health of the heart. Cardiac rehabilitation, a comprehensive outpatient program and a cardiology clinic with regional heart care clinics are available.
  • Neuroscience: SVH offers advanced technology in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of stroke patients. Services include: neurodiagnostics, neurosurgery, multiple sclerosis, stroke, sleep center and rehabilitation.
  • Orthopedic Services: Our dedication to innovative orthopedic care means better results across all specialties, like total joint replacement, ligament and tendon repair, arthroscopy, back, neck, hand and foot surgery, knee injury, rehab, physical and occupational therapy. The hospital performs more joint replacements than any other Montana hospital.
  • Children's Healthcare:
    Pediatric Intensive Care Unit:
St. Vincent offers the region's only fully staffed pediatric ICU with specialists in pediatric cardiology, gastroenterology, neonatology, neurology, orthopedics, pulmonology, psychiatric, urology, hospitalists and intensivists, and behavioral and developmental health. The Ronald McDonald CareMobile serves the underserved.
Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU): A Level IIIB NICU cares for the littlest patients with the highest acuities.
  • Women's Services:
    SVH Yellowstone Breast Center:
Designated as a Breast Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, the center also received the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) by the American College of Surgeons. Mobile mammography serves eastern Montana.
Family Maternity Center: Labor and Delivery, Mother Newborn Unit. Delivering the region's babies for more than 110 years, St. Vincent provides comprehensive care for mothers, families and babies.
  • Comprehensive Regional Services: Additional services include HELP Flight Program, Weight Management Center, Gastrointestinal Center, CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Facility, Level II Trauma Center and Wound Care Center.

St. Vincent Healthcare was founded in 1898 when two Sisters of Charity from Leavenworth, Kan., traveled to Billings, Mont., at the request of Dr. Henry Chapple, the city's physician and mayor.
