• Cardiac Services: Saint Joseph is the leading heart hospital in Denver, performing nearly 400 open-heart surgeries annually and in 2009 was recognized by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for the third year in a row with the highest rating possible, a 3-Star rating. This places Saint Joseph in the top 10 percent of all open-heart programs in the United States.
• Labor and Delivery Services: In 2009, Saint Joseph Hospital delivered nearly 5,000 babies. The unit provides a family environment with extra sleeping areas for guests and additional amenities. Along with normal deliveries, the Hospital continues to care for critically ill newborns and high-risk mothers.
• Oncology Services: Saint Joseph is among the top three Colorado hospitals for newly diagnosed cancer cases. The Comprehensive Cancer Center brings together in one place the Hospital's Breast Care Center, cancer psychosocial services, medical and surgical oncology, a laboratory, a new cancer pharmacy and the Infusion Center. Clinical professionals have access to leading-edge technology and can better interact to provide fully coordinated care to patients.
• Orthopedic Program: More than 250 hip and 500 knee procedures were performed in 2009. Care is provided by physicians and staff who are recognized experts in orthopedic procedures.
• Emergency Department: Highly trained physicians, nurses and support staff treat more than 136 patients per day. The department operates an observation unit where patients needing extended care can be treated for up to 23 hours-often avoiding a hospital admission.
• Graduate Medical Education: The Hospital offers accredited graduate medical education programs in family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and surgery to approximately 100 graduate physicians each year.

Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital, founded by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth in 1873, is the oldest private teaching hospital in Colorado.
